In Loving Memory of Zoe Marie Stone

Run for Zoe

In April 2010 a group of approximately 6 of us will be raising money for The Teenage Cancer Trust by running a gruelling 72 miles from Canterbury to Kingston Upon Thames. The route is yet to be finalised but is likely to take a route parallel to the A2 and through London. An update and or map of the route will be posted once it has been finalised.

The run will take place over a three day period starting on Saturday 3rd April and finishing on Monday 5th April 2010. We have been in training now for some time preparing ourselves for what I can only describe as a bloody long run. For those who want to get involved but do not feel they can run the full distance we will be setting up partial distances for them to complete to aid our cause. My 11 year old son Michael has committed to run the final 10Km to help raise money in memory of his sister, he to has been busy training completing a 5Km run every Saturday morning at Bushy Park.

We will be chasing everyone for sponsorship soon but if you want to make an online donation to our cause you can do so direct at the Teenage Cancer Trust web site on the Run for Zoe Donation Page or by simply clicking the Teenage Cancer Trust logo at the top of this page.

In the coming weeks we will also be looking for many volunteers to help us make this fund raising weekend the success it deserves to be. If you feel you can help in any way please drop me a line at stoniek@zoemariestone.co.uk

Training Hard

As I am sure you’ll appreciate to complete this run we have had to train extremely hard to get to the required level of fitness this run will require. I myself have run in excess of 120 miles during the month of January which to be honest will have to increase in the coming weeks. I would like to thank everybody who has given their support and encouragement to our training. I would especially like to thank all the guys at 26.2 Road Runners Club in Surbiton who have really given both me and my brother Paul the motivation we needed to get out running during the cold, wet evenings. The encouragement we have received to enter races and just generally turn up and train has been fantastic, cheers guys.

For a selection of photo’s of us in training feel free to browse my Facebook Albums here and here and don’t forget if you see us running down the road don’t be tempted to offer us a lift, we need the exercise.
